Bella Figura was founded in 1982 and has therefore just celebrated its 25 year anniversary. Initially the company was a retailer of exciting Italian lighting products and operated out of a shop in London’s Fulham Road. From 1987 onwards the company started developing and manufacturing its own exclusive designs, which led to significant sales growth and established the company as one of the leading suppliers in the luxury lighting sector. Bella Figura now has an unrivalled client base, which includes many of the world’s leading interior designers, architects, luxury hotel groups and wealthy private clients.
Bella Figura was one of the first companies to open a trade showroom in the prestigious Chelsea Harbour Design Centre in London in the early 1990’s, where it still operates today. The company also has a second, much larger trade showroom at 551-533 Kings Road, London which was opened in 2007. The company’s manufacturing, warehousing and administration are based at Melton, Suffolk in the heart of the English countryside.
Over the last 25 years Bella Figura has established a reputation for designing and manufacturing lighting of unsurpassed style and quality. In 2005, this reputation and the company’s exclusive product range attracted Lee Jofa, one of the world’s leading American fabric, wallpaper & furniture companies to distribute Bella Figura through its large network of showrooms across the US. More recently, the company has become the very first LINLEY licensee, which has resulted in the joint development of a unique and highly successful lighting collection designed by David Linley.
The company was acquired in January 2008 by Charles Wightman, who is now the driving force behind the business. Charles has 20 years experience in the interiors market and he is very ably supported by Andrew Kornat, the company’s Sales & Marketing Director and David Horrex, the company’s Finance Director.
